Frank A. Palaggo, 73, of New Bethlehem, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born March 29, 1929, in Reynoldsville, he was the son of John and Rose Schettino Palaggo.
On Aug. 21, 1955 he married Donna Cribbs in St. Mary Catholic Church, Reynoldsville. She survives.
He was a 1946 graduate of Reynoldsville High School and a 1952 graduate of Clarion University, where he received a degree in teaching.
Mr. Palaggo was a social studies teacher for 11 years at Redbank Valley High School, New Bethlehem, and coached baseball there for each of those years. He next was employed for 16 years at Clarion University as supervisor of student teachers and as an assistant dean of education, retiring there in 1989. He earned the Distinguished Alumni Award while at Clarion University.
He was a PIAA official and was a member of the PIAA board of directors.
Mr. Palaggo began as an athletic official in 1949 and was awarded the PIAA Distinguished Service Award. He held the position of District 9 official representative for the PIAA since 1964.
Mr. Palaggo was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem and the Pine Crest Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving along with his wife are one son, Andrew Palaggo of Pittsburgh; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Tina Palaggo-)Toy of Freeport; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Palaggo.
Viewing will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday (Sept. 30) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 1) at Bish Memorial Funeral Home, 206 S. Street, New Bethlehem.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (Oct. 2) in St. Charles Catholic Church, New Bethlehem, with the Rev. William Laska presiding.
Interment will follow in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, New Bethlehem.
