Johnson's Bar,
Annville, PA. A family operation launched in 1959 and
featuring the "best wings in
Lebanon
County,"was the scene of a fantastic community celebration in March of 1999
when the Annville-Cleona "Little Dutchmen" won the PIAA Class Double A State
Boy's Basketball Championship. They defeated Quaker Valley 69-57 in a tense
double overtime game in Hersheypark Arena. When the game ended, the huge
crowd of Annville faithful rooters went the short 15 miles back to town and
proceeded to celebrate. The epicenter of the community celebration was
Johnson's Bar located in the 200 block of W. Main Street at the corner of King
Street. The ebb and flow of a two overtime game, punctuated by numerous lead
changes and great plays by both teams helped to heighten the level of
celebration, and for the only time in the history of tavern mercantilism in
Lebanon County, the bar ran out of alcoholic beverages. There had been standing
room only inside the establishment and close to a hundred patrons outside, all
replaying the historic and thrilling scholastic event while imbibing in their
favorite beverage. This historic community gathering left Jonhson's Bar
completely sold out, a Lebanon County record! Today your congenial hosts at
Johnson's Bar and Restaurant are Mr and Mrs Steve Johnson, the second generation
owners.
