DAUPHIN- On the morning of January 19, 2016, Terry E. Manning passed away at his home in Dauphin, PA. Born July 4, 1938 in Halifax, PA, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Lucy E. (Bohr) Manning. Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Michele (Mickey) Manning of Dauphin; three children, Jeffrey L. (Rachel) of Plymouth Meeting, Ricky M. (Patricia) of Reno, NV and Caryn R. (Jeremy) Hand of Dauphin; two granddaughters, Abigail and Chloe Manning of Plymouth Meeting; and siblings including brothers Dale Manning of Elizabethville, Kim (Deb) Manning of East Petersburg, and sisters Donna (Donald) Bechtel and Carol Carl of Millersburg, Judy (Ray) Hoffman of Halifax, Luanne (Dan) Boviall of Camp Hill and Holly (Michael) Rossi of Greensburg, as well as many nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by brothers James and Timothy Manning of Millersburg, PA and sister Collette Little of New Cumberland, PA. He was a graduate of Millersburg Area High School ('56) and Mansfield State Teacher's College ('63). He was a retired middle school and driver's education teacher from Millersburg Area School District (33 years), as well as long-time high school basketball and baseball coach. Terry was employed part-time by Alternative Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Harrisburg. His successful basketball coaching career spanned 24 years, winning 478 times and more than 80% of his games coached. His teams produced six district titles and numerous league championships. He was inducted into the Capital Area Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2000, as well as the Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. In June 2015, he was awarded Mansfield University's President's Coin of Excellence. Terry was a long standing member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 59 and the Dauphin-Middle Paxton Fire Company. He was an avid follower of Mansfield University Athletics, Penn State University basketball teams and the Harrisburg Senators. Memorial services will be held at David's Church at 1072 State Route 25, Millersburg, PA on Tuesday, January 26th at 11am. Visitation will be on Monday, January 25th from 6pm to 8pm at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes at 118 S. Market St. in Millersburg and on Tuesday, January 26th from 10am to 11am. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Millersburg.
