the streak has ended, Trinity defeated the York girls 66-50 on Saturday Jan 12, 2008

If you look in the dictionary, the noun RECORD is defined as the following:
-the state of being recorded, as in writing
-an account in writing or the like preserving the memory or knowledge of facts or events
-a report, list, or aggregate of actions or achievements

The record for winning streaks is now for another day.  Trinity ended the York Catholic girls streak at 61.  They had tied  the all-time PIAA record with their 42-29 win over Delone.  Their quest for the state record is over.  The pahoops.org  research at the State Library had verified West End St. James at  66 straight wins and the record to beat, but  then
Jeff  Dewees of the York Daily Record found  that West Philadelphia had 68 straight wins between 1976 and 1978 in seasons of 24-2 (1976), 30-0 (1977), and 33-1 (1978).  This was the mark for York Catholic was trying to reach, but that is now history.  The noun RECORD.

There was not a records repository or place that fans could turn to for information until the pahoops website was started ten years ago.  Now records are being recorded, as in writing and being preserved.  Once information is posted on our website we welcome fans, coaches and the media to come forward with new information that either confirms or challenges our data.  That way we can create a list of records that chronicles the achievements of Pennsylvania basketball teams and players.  Otherwise, their achievements are forgotten.  This methodology created by the pahoops website has helped to produce the updates.  We will continue to strive- to add, update, and publish the records!

These is the latest consecutive win streak list:
61-the PIAA record, Allentown High School
61-the PIAA record, tied by the York Catholic girls, Jan 11, 2008
66-the PCIAA record, West End St. James
68-the City of Philadelphia record, West Philadelphia
THEREFORE, 68 stands as the record for the state of Pennsylvania
